Josh York is the Founder and CEO of GYMGUYZ, # 1 in Home Personal Training, headquartered in Plainview, New York. Since its inception in 2008, Josh has been valued for his hands on leadership style in growing the business and profitability to more than 1000 clients, 50 employees and a fleet of vans in less than 5 years. Josh oversees the overall business strategy of GYMGUYZ. Josh was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Long Island University, Post and brings a deep working knowledge of exercise and fitness to the GYMGUYZ company. While in college, Josh fulfilled his passion for exercise and fitness by earning his Personal Trainer Certification from ISSA. He put his certification to good use by working in a variety of fitness clubs during his four years in college.
Although Josh knew his ultimate career goal would be working in the health and fitness field, he accepted a job with a local marketing company after he completed his degree. He understood the importance of gaining practical experience before launching his own business.
Finally, in 2008, Josh made the break and created GYMGUYZ, a brand that promotes a healthy lifestyle through exercise and good nutrition. GYMGUYZ brings the experience of working out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle right to your front door, office building, local park or setting of your choice. Josh is an avid ice hockey player, and recently was named an Under35 CEO. Josh resides on Long Island with his wife Stacy and son Jake.
Nina Marcus is the GYMGUYZ Director of Operations. Nina brings more than 18 years of financial expertise and management experience to the company. She oversees the day-to-day operations and service needs of our clients and business partners. Nina is responsible for coordinating and providing training to franchisees to ensure the business runs efficiently. In addition, Nina provides daily administrative and leadership support to the GYMGUYZ team. She is responsible for managing a full range of administrative, logistical and operational duties which include financials, fleet administration, and human resources. As Director of Operations, Nina plays a strategic role in the overall management and growth of the company.
Nina is a Certified Public Accountant and comes to us from Philip Morris USA, as Senior Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis. Nina is also a Certified Personal Trainer and has worked in the health and fitness field for over 12 years. These skills allow Nina to manage and guide the diverse array of business activities at GYMGUYZ on a daily basis.
Nina is a graduate of the State University of New York at Buffalo, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Jo-Ann Houston, PT CSCS
As Vice President of Franchise Operations, Jo-Ann brings a wealth of expertise, ambition and practical experience to the GYMGUYZ team. Previously, she served as the Director of Business Development at GYMGUYZ responsible for improving the market position of the company and ensuring financial growth of the GYMGUYZ corporate territories. As Vice President, Jo-Ann is responsible for providing overall leadership and operational support of all franchises. She manages and implements programs and best practices related to marketing initiatives and business administration of training programs while coaching and empowering franchise owners. Jo-Ann is also responsible for creating and implementing performance initiatives based on social, economic and technological influences in a rapidly changing fitness industry. Jo-Ann works collaboratively with the GYMGUYZ executive team and extended team of franchise owners in an effort to increase efficiency in all areas and maximize profitability.
Jo-Ann earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Fairfield University. She later went on to pursue her degree in physical therapy from Hunter College in 1993. Combining her skills and passion for health and fitness, Jo-Ann earned her certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is certified as a Pre & Postnatal Exercise Specialist. Prior to joining the GYMGUYZ team, Jo-Ann served as the Director of Health and Wellness at the New York Athletic Club in Manhattan.
Jo-Ann has worked in a variety of settings including private homes, gyms, hospitals, private practice and corporate settings. She is a frequent guest speaker at local community events giving seminars on fitness and wellness related topics. She has always had a strong passion for empowering clients of all ages and abilities to not only reach their goals but to surpass them.
On a personal note, Jo-Ann loves practicing what she preaches. Whether it’s blazing up the hills in her own neighborhood, pumping iron in her backyard or getting in a quick playground workout nearby, staying in shape is always her top priority. Jo-Ann has completed three NYC Marathons and one Boston Marathon and continues to enjoy local road races for fun and fundraising!
Jo-Ann most enjoys spending time with her 2 children playing sports, going to movies and just hanging out on the beaches of Long Island! Loves to dance and will one day master XBOX “Just Dance”!
As the Director of Marketing, Rachele draws on her diverse background in marketing, social media and advertising to bring a unique perspective to the GYMGUYZ team . Since joining the GYMGUYZ team in 2015, Rachele has been responsible for all marketing programs, advertising initiatives, social media, brand management and developing a strategic marketing plan to ensure that the GYMGUYZ brand messaging is both cohesive and effective. Additionally, she writes the GYMGUYZ blogs and helps craft the branded content.
Rachele has worked in public relations for General Electric, wrote copy, developed social strategy and managed national brand pages for Gerber, propelled advertising for an international mining company, and has held the role of creative director for two start-up agencies managing over 14 clients.
Rachele graduated from Siena College, located in Loudonville, N.Y., with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and minored in both Broadcast Media and Creative Arts.
In her spare time, Rachele enjoys working out, playing with her two Chihuahuas and spending time with her family and friends.
Ray is the Vice President of Franchise Development. He is responsible for identifying opportunities and nurturing potential business relationships for the GYMGUYZ Franchise. He provides leadership to the GYMGUYZ team as they implement the strategic plan for the franchise department. He has oversight of the launch process and grand opening of new franchises as well as managing the financials and delivering on profit goals.
Ray joined the GYMGUYZ team in 2015 and brings 15 years of experience in franchise development and operations. Ray was a key contributor in the growth of franchise systems for both the automotive and home/health care industries. His knowledge of brand building and his long and proven track record in sales, development, operations and management provide the support needed for the rapid and strategic growth of GYMGUYZ as the top health and fitness brand in the United States.
Ray, his wife Jill and two children spend many weekends involved in youth sports. Ray volunteers his time coaching teams year-round. He has made physical fitness a part of his daily life and plays basketball about 5 days a week. Ray is an Ohio State football fanatic. He follows the Buckeyes daily and celebrates many victories, while hoping the Philadelphia Eagles will one day win a Super Bowl.
Jill assumed her role as Franchise Launch Specialist for GYMGUYZ in 2015. In this capacity, she assists the V.P. for Franchise Development, providing direction and guidance to both the GYMGUYZ prospective franchisees and franchise partners. Jill guides each potential partner through a systematic approach designed to navigate the franchise process with ease. As the primary point of contact, Jill is ready to answer questions and provide prompt and thorough follow-up, manage franchise training and coordinate the “Grand Opening” to ensure a successful launch of a new franchise. Once the franchise is fully operational, Jill continues to provide solid support to each franchise, acting as liaison between the franchisee and the GYMGUYZ leadership team as they work together to increase business growth.
Jill joined the GYMGUYZ team in 2014 as Marketing and Administrative Assistant, providing assistance to the CEO by supporting the business functions in the corporate office and the overall franchise business. Jill made an immediate impact by skillfully using social media to boost the online presence of GYMGUYZ, resulting in increased leads and sales for GYMGUYZ while developing brand awareness as the #1 mobile personal training and fitness franchise.
After graduating from Siena College in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Management, Jill worked for HBO gaining the business experience that lead her to GYMGUYZ team. Jill is an avid New York Ranger fan and enjoys spending quality time with her son.
Chelsea J. Hernandez joined the GYMGUYZ team in 2015 as Executive Assistant. Chelsea reports directly to the CEO, providing a full range of administrative and business support. She efficiently manages the day to day operations of the office, while also providing administrative support to the GYMGUYZ leadership team, fostering an environment of teamwork and collaboration. Chelsea acts as the bridge between internal and external constituents, allowing for smooth communications, a critical component of the success of the GYMGUYZ brand. She also collaborates with the Marketing Director for all social media platforms. Chelsea joined the GYMGUYZ team from Star Career Academy where she served as a supervisor coordinating the administrative functions of the enrollment management office. Chelsea graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Hunter College and in her free time she enjoys perfecting her form at the gym and spending quality time with her son.

Danny has recently joined the GYMGUYZ family as the MTS (Motivation to Succeed) Coach. Danny joined the GYMGUYZ family from Behr Paint where he acted as Manager of Professional Services. He managed all day-to-day operations and logistics within his department while acting as a liaison between a cross-functional team including Distribution, Manufacturing, Sales and Corporate teams. Prior to taking on the management role Danny spent 2 years with the sales team at Behr Paint where his success describes how he increased overall sales in a $300,000 territory to a $1.5 million territory. Danny’s relationship-building skills, strong communication, drive and motivation has helped him to continue to be successful As the MTS Coach, Danny is responsible for directly supporting all franchisees with overall business initiatives, operations, management, sales and support. Danny’s #1 goal is to ensure that the franchises are successful overall while adhering to GYMGUYZ operating standards. He is accountable for bringing sound management principles to the franchisees in order to increase sales, control costs and improve overall profitability. Danny will collaboratively work with the GYMGUYZ executive leadership team as well as the franchise owners to maximize profitability, increase efficiency and minimize risk. He will act as a liaison between Franchisee and Franchisor stimulating a constructive relationship while providing consultative services to the franchisees on all business-related matters. Danny will provide constructive feedback, effective coaching and counseling to the franchisees on their overall operational performance and developmental needs. He will also conduct business plans and periodically schedule visits to support franchisees in goal setting and the execution of action items to achieve set goals. Danny has a B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Kutztown University with a minor in Spanish. He is actively studying for his ISSA certification and will receive his certification shortly. Danny is very active in sports, nutrition and overall wellness. During his free time he enjoys spending time with his lovely wife (Rina) and 2 beautiful children Maria and Daniel Jr. The family enjoys being active and staying fit. Danny is also an active youth football coach and loves to train his daughter in gymnastics. Danny is super excited to join the GYMGUYZ culture and family that provides a nurturing, positive, healthy work environment with a Vision and Mission that are unprecedented.
