Cardiovascular Exercise, Part 4

Ok. Your body has signaled to you that it can easily tolerate an increase in both the frequency and duration of cardio exercise. Of course, this doesn’t mean you should go hog wild and start doing two hours of cardio per day, 7 days a week. Whether you’re based on Long Island, or live out of state and have begun working out with a trainer from one of our new GYMGUYZ Franchises in Boston for example, your regular GYMGUYZ workouts are intense; they might suffer if you drain too much of your energy and recovery ability doing tons of cardio. The idea, then, is to find the proper balance. This is very much an individual thing and will likely involve some degree of trial and error. Whatever you decide on, be safe and take things slow.

As in many areas of life, “too much of one thing” for one person equals “not enough” for another person, and vice versa. If you want to do some form of cardio exercise every day — even something as simple as walking qualifies — by all means, give it a try. The body can handle longer stretches of lower intensity exercise without skipping a beat. Going full blast every single day is never recommended! There HAVE to be periods where you take your foot off the accelerator. It’s all part of the process!
