After opening a GYMGUYZ location in Barrington last year, Tom Hirshberg recently was recognized for booking more than 300 training sessions a month with customers.
The franchise brings personal training services directly to a customer’s home or business in select states. The Barrington location services the village, Deerfield, Glencoe, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Lake Zurich and Winnetka, according to its website.
At a GYMGUYZ’s franchise convention earlier this year, Hirshberg received the “Fastest Ramp Up” award for booking hundreds of sessions a month throughout his first year and a half in business, according to a news release.
Q. How did you get into this business?
Q. Why do customers like it?
A. It offers the convenience of a customized workout specifically for our clients. Our customers are very diverse. There’s a 92-year-old man who had trouble getting up from his kitchen table. He can now go down to the front of his gate outside four times a day. We also have teenagers who were bullied in school, and they don’t have the self-esteem to workout in a gymnasium.
