Men’s Health Month
It is men’s health month; men’s health usually takes a backseat to women's health. This is the month to make your health a priority. On average men live 5 years less than women and there are many factors that lead to men not living as long as men. Heart disease and cancer are two factors that lead to earlier death in men. Through exercise and proper diet many men can reduce the probability of developing these diseases.
Heart Disease and Cancer
Men are more likely to be diagnosed with heart disease and 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer. Men can reduce their chances of developing these diseases through a few simple lifestyle changes.
Heart disease
To reduce chances of developing heart disease include:
- Lower blood cholesterol levels
- Lower blood pressure
- Lose weight
- Quit smoking
- Stay physically active
Cancer
To reduce chances of developing cancer include:
- Lose weight
- Maintain a low-fat diet
- Obtain a high fiber diet
- Reduce alcohol intake
- Stay physically active
Activities for Men to Improve Health
There are many activities that men can do to live a healthier lifestyle. You can do any activity that you would like.
Tips to maintain a healthy body are:
- Develop a routine
- Find something you enjoy
- Try new exercises
- Cook more meals at home.
Some activities I recommend are:
- Boxing
- Running
- Weight lifting
- Exercise classes
