Founded in the modest confines of a dining room on Long Island, New York in 2008, GYMGUYZ has exploded into a national brand and one of the fastest growing fitness franchises in the United States. The mobile fitness brand began franchising in 2014 and commemorated its two years of monumental growth with its first annual national conference in Garden City, New York on September 15 and 16.

The GYMGUYZ team lives and breathes the values of hard work and determination to achieve success. The brand’s leadership and franchisees have committed to a “never quit” attitude to grow the concept from three states serving 21 territories in 2015 to 14 states serving 71 territories today with a goal to cover 100 territories nationwide by end of 2016.

“Our first conference was an amazing opportunity to bring our franchise family together and get fired up for the exciting year ahead,” said GYMGUYZ Founder and CEO Josh York. “It was an opportunity to coach our franchisees to put power, strength, determination, passion and desire into their businesses every day to be the best and keep moving our brand forward.”

The conference provided opportunities for education and team building, from didactic sessions to improve day-to-day operations to an obstacle course workout that the entire franchisee system and vendor partners completed together.

The leadership team also announced the launch of a national partnership with Think Kindness, an organization created to emphasize the importance of positivity for America’s youth. Through the partnership, in cities where GYMGUYZ has a presence, local franchisees will help Think Kindness make an impact on area schools. The local owners will stop by classrooms and hold discussions with students to reinforce the importance of displaying kindness on a daily basis.
The leadership team also used the meeting as an opportunity to honor its top players in the system that embody the GYMGUYZ culture and demonstrate the drive to propel the brand forward. The following high performers were recognized at the 2016 conference:

  • Franchisee of the Year: Sam Langer and Jimmy Bonavita – Westchester, NY
  • Rookie of the Year: Josh Grinstead – Fort Lee, Tenafly, Paramus, NJ
  • Fastest Ramp Up: Tom Hirshberg – Barrington, Highland Park, IL
  • Social Media Award: Moses Hirshenbaum – Houston Midtown, TX
  • Most Persistent Franchisee: Robin & Michael Hjalte – Bay Ridge, NY
  • Employee of the Year: Deanna Smith – Peachtree City, GA

The recent national conference was not only an opportunity to recognize current successes, but also highlight goals for the brand with an unstoppable mindset. 2017 will be a banner year for GYMGUYZ as it begins international expansion efforts, with plans to break into Canada’s fitness industry first. Additionally, by 2018, York plans to have GYMGUYZ vans serving the United Kingdom, Australia, Asia, Central America and South America.
“Our mobile concept allows us to scale faster than almost any other franchise brand and our goals are huge, because we know we can achieve them,” York said. “We won’t stop until we are the number one worldwide fitness brand.”
