Owner, General Manager, and Certified Personal Trainer
Max Malec is the Owner and General Manager of GYMGUYZ Chicago and the North Shore, where he is dedicated to enhancing the well-being of his community by making fitness accessible, engaging, and effective. A lifelong fitness enthusiast and accomplished athlete, Max has participated in a variety of sports, including competing in Big Ten water polo and USA Water Polo programs.
With over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry, Max holds a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) credential from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). After successful careers in both athletics and the corporate sector, he founded GYMGUYZ to share his passion for fitness and create an inclusive environment where evidence-based wellness programs empower individuals from all backgrounds to improve their quality of life.

Mackenzie Malec is a passionate fitness professional and the Co-Owner and Marketing Director of GYMGUYZ Chicago and the North Shore. With over 10 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise as a marketing director, certified nutritionist, and fitness instructor.
Mackenzie’s journey began with a deep love for movement and wellness, leading her to develop programs that inspire and empower individuals to achieve their fitness goals. Her unique approach combines her background in nutrition with innovative fitness techniques, ensuring a holistic experience for her clients.
In addition to her fitness credentials, Mackenzie has over 12 years of experience in the marketing industry. This dual expertise allows her to effectively promote GYMGUYZ mission of providing convenient, personalized fitness solutions to the community. After teaching a fitness course at Temple University’s Japan Campus, I returned to the States eager to help others integrate fitness into their lifestyles. NASM-certified and health-motivated, I believe that health and wellness are lifelong journeys of self-improvement—and I’m here to motivate you to become your best self!

Oscar Olvera
CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
As a personal trainer certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Science, I bring a wealth of knowledge that allows me to effectively help my clients reach their fitness goals. With 17 years of professional training experience, I customize my programs to each individual client’s needs and ability. I have a robust background in strength training, cardiovascular health, flexibility, and martial arts, holding the rank of 1st Dan in both Han Mu Do and Taekwondo. My current focus is on empowering beginners through calisthenics and helping them build a solid base for their fitness journey through the principals of science-based programming and martial arts.

My background in corporate wellness as a Registered Nurse combined with a group fitness Instructor, I have been delivering Wellness programming to optimize team member’s health. Being able to incorporate fitness in my line of work has been extremely rewarding. Watching the progression of health by teaching lifestyle choices and managing disease has been a privilege. My passion for fitness and my love for helping others will always be my focus.
