Beyond Just Bulking Up: Benefits of Strength Training
When you begin and stick to an in-home strength program, you can start seeing and enjoying fantastic health benefits. Bulking up is clearly a benefit of getting stronger, but it is not the only one.
When you engage with a strength curriculum, you can also improve your:
- Metabolism: Some people will experience a metabolism boost from training. If you have struggled to lose weight despite dieting and doing cardio, then a slower metabolism could be to blame, and strength training might be what is needed to kickstart it.
- Heart health: The heart is the most important muscle in your body. Show it some care and attention with strength-specific training, which has been shown to strengthen the heart. Muscle gains may also lower blood pressure, further benefiting your cardiovascular system.
- Bone density: Many people experience bone density improvements after months or years of regular training exercises. If there is a history of low bone density in your family, then we encourage you to let us know so we can create a safe, productive strength and muscle building program that can be completed in your own home.
- Mental health: Do not overlook the great sense of accomplishment you can enjoy when training. Looking at yourself in the mirror and seeing your gains can be uplifting to the point that it improves your mental health, especially if you have been dealing with depression or body dysmorphia. Talk to your therapist today about how exercise could be beneficial when fighting mental health difficulties.
