MIKE SMITH
CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
Fitness Background :
Mike has been passionate about fitness and athletics since he was seven years old when he began playing youth football and baseball. Later, in middle school and high school Mike played football, wrestled, and participated in track and field. In college Mike changed majors from Business Administration to Exercise Physiology because it was the only thing he wanted to pursue, and he completed a semester-long internship at a physical therapy facility in Philadelphia. He considered getting a master’s degree in physical therapy but started training clients and never looked back.
Now, after training for more than two decades, Mike has worked with all client populations from teens to octogenarians, beginners to seasoned athletes, appropriately prescribing exercise programs based on individual needs. Mike has a few interesting client training stories – he will be happy to share during water breaks. He is certified by The American Council on Exercise and by The American Heart Association in CPR and AED.
JENNIFER PLISZKA
CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER
Fitness Background :
Jennifer has been very active since she was a child. Growing up, she played many sports including: softball, gymnastics, swimming, and competitive cheerleading. Her love for fitness continued later in life with running and doing local races as well as the Philadelphia Half Marathon and the Broad Street 10-Mile Run a few times. After knee surgery, her running slowed down and strength and HIIT training became her passion and preferred way to stay fit.
Through the years Jennifer has worked in many areas of the fitness industry. After receiving a BS in Exercise Science and Sports Studies from Rutgers University, she worked as a physical therapy aide. Afterwards, she worked at Princeton University alongside their strength trainer, which led her to shift her focus to personal training. After a few years training adults in a gym setting, Jennifer made the switch to a youth fitness center, teaching gymnastics and sports skills. She has also worked with children as a coach for Girls On The Run and as a recess monitor in elementary school.
Jennifer has been coaching and training people of all ages and abilities for over two decades, and it continues to be as challenging as it is rewarding – she is very grateful to be doing what she loves.
